This is a programme designed for DJs with additional needs aged 18 and over, from beginner to expert level.
The DJ Collective is a safe space with state-of-the-art music equipment to engage and involve yourself in music. This is an opportunity to meet other people, develop your DJ skills, broadcast on the internet, plan events and have a cup of tea or coffee while chatting about the music you love!
The DJ Collective is an inclusive group of adults with learning difficulties and disabilites who meet regularly to share their love of music, practice and perform at events across Gloucestershire. They play a wide range of music, from rare Northern Soul vinyl to live gabba mashups and literally everything in between. They meet on Thursdays in Gloucester at The Music Works inclusive hub to rehearse, plan events, socialise and broadcast on YouTube.
The DJ Collective have performed at prestigious event across Gloucestershire over the last 5 years including Cheltenham Midsummer Fiesta, Gloucester Tall Ships Festival, Tewkesbury Big Weekend, Wilson Nights, Gloucester Pride, Big Health Day and HappyFest, as well as promoting their own events at The Music Works and the Frog & Fiddle. Bookings for 2025 include AJAM at Gloucester Ski Slopes and Wychwood Festival.
Members of the DJ Collective come in all shapes and sizes, from absolute beginners to professional level DJs. They are happy to play at any and all events from village fetes to established festivals and we choose the DJs to perform based on the needs of the event, whether that be specific music styles, expected audience or access availability. The DJ Collective are equally as happy to throw down a silent disco as they are to go loud over a club or destival PA, and comfortable to fit around other acts & performers at any event.
No stage? No problem! The Music Works has a fully kitted out Music Bus with its own solar power and generator which can be parked anywhere to provide a pop-up party, either amplified or on silent disco headphones. Wherever there’s a bit of room for a diverse bunch of DJs who like to get the party started, the DJ Collective will slot into your lineup and help keep the festival vibe alive.
