Want to work in a music studio for a living?

Our Studio Engineering programme is a course for aspiring engineers taught at our ground-breaking recording facilities at The Hub, Gloucester.

During your training you’ll get high-quality teaching covering everything you’ll need to start a career as an engineer in a music studio. Throughout and following the programme, you will have a chance to use The Music Works studios independently to work on building your portfolio, practice your skills, and record artists within the studio. There will also be shadowing opportunities for you to provide support on professional recording sessions.

What will you get?

Industry-standard engineering training:

  • Record, edit and mix vocal and band sessions to an industry-standard
  • Understand a basic setup of the studio, with confidence to be able to troubleshoot in any setting
  • Learn how to maintain studio equipment
  • Understand techniques to get the best out of the artist or musician in the studio
  • Learn the technical processes involved in the recording process
  • Delivery-led and independent learning – opportunities for you to practice your technical skills

Work experience and business skills:

  • Develop skills to allow you to become a freelance engineer, gaining the entrepreneurial skills needed to build your own client base
  • Opportunity to volunteer in our studios whilst learning
  • The chance to undertake further training within The Music Works
Who is it for?
  • Young people interested in developing their career as a sound engineer or audio technician, and interested in working in a recording studio environment
  • Be based in Gloucestershire
  • Be aged between 18 – 25
